Featured in this lot is this bordered etching by engraver George Coburn born in 1887 and died in 1962. The etching is wonderfully and professionally crafted and set to a matte border and shows a thicket with a tree in the front of it and shows long grass on the ground. The etching is marked 'GCH' for George Coburn Harper and is written on in the margin 'From the Harper's.' An etcher and engraver, George Harper studied at the Cleveland School of Art, Art Students League of New York and with Minnie Fuller. He exhibited with the Chicago Society of Etchers, 1928-30; Brooklyn Society of Etchers, 1928-30; Bibliotheque Nationale, 1928; California Printmakers, 1929-30; Detroit Institute of Art, 1930; National Arts Club, 1930; National Academy of Design, 1936 and Library of Congress, 1945. The condition of this etching is fair with a small tear to the bottom left hand corner of the etching but otherwise it shows fair overall condition. The measurements of this bordered etching is 9" x 9" and the visible etching measures 2 3/4" x 3 1/4". Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery.
