This is an original work of art bronze sculpture circa 1974 of General George Armstrong Custer by renowned master artist Gary Joseph Schlidt (1938-2021) from Montana. The bronze is a nice large size with one of the finest heavy solid bronze work of the iconic western legend General George Armstrong Custer posing with his hand on his hip and a pair of binoculars in his hand with his sword hanging from his waist in his scabbard known for Custers Last Stand at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, also known as the Battle of Greasy Grass. Gary Joseph Schildt is a member of the Montana Blackfeet Tribe and has participated in the C.M. Russell Auction In Great Falls, Montana numerous years. In addition, he is a founding member of the Northwest Rendezvous of Art group. Schildt is an accomplished artist with notable works in oil, watercolor and bronze. The bronze features the artist signature and the date created on the base of the sculpture. The condition of this bronze statue is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of this bronze statue are 17" x 7" x 4".
