SN: 75 Spanish copy of Smith & Wesson 1881 First Model Frontier DA, manufactured for British government testing and use in WWI. Features approx 5" barrel, fixed sights, six shot cylinder, single/double action, top break loading/unloading, lanyard ring at butt. Bore is fair to good condition, strong rifling with dark streaks. Charge holes are good condition. Retains 75% blue, mostly a dull gray with areas of brown color, bare metal on high spots, back strap and sides of barrel. Trigger and hammer show 65% case color, mixed blue and brown. Dark brown or black plastic checkered grips are good condition with scuffs and scrapes. Grip fit is fair along edges; grip frame extends below grips in a bird's head shape with exposed steel. Action is smooth but heavy, with stiff opening and ejection. Markings are clear and readable, filled with white paint, and include British proofs. Referenced in several books including Adamek's "Pistols of WWI", pp 136 & 244.
