Cup Hilt Rapier circa 1590-1670 with a nicely pierced cup and large quillion measuring 12” across. The original copper wire wrapped grip with undisturbed Turks head indicates homogenous and matching to the periodelements. The blade shows light traces of engraving but no name or maker’s mark and is most likely Italian or Southern European in origin. The piece is approximately 47” in overall length with a 40” blade showing thetip was reduced or blunted so as not to kill. The condition is good overall with light to moderate pitting on the blade, the hilt is very good with light natural aging. This is an authentic rapier that all originatedtogether. Est.: $900-$1,800.
