SN: 10171SA & 10172SA "Second Generation" Consecutive numbered set of single action revolver chambered in .38 Special, manufactured circa 1957. Both in the following configuration: blued & case hardened finish, 7 1/2" barrel, blade front sight, square notched rear sight, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, fluted six-shot cylinder, ejector rod, and two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt decor. Includes the original black cardboard boxes which are in need of repair. A document is also included which has a copy of a telegram from Van Orden to Donald Weiler, a photograph and text that reads " My father Col. Weiler purchased this 'matched pair' From General George Van Orden, Evaluator Limited, Quantico around 1958. They were friends from the Pacific Campaign, landing together on Bougainville, after Guadalcanal, on November 1, 1943. Father was Company Commander B-1-3, Van Oder his CO who put him in for a Silver Star and Legion of Merit for his Bravery and leadership in taking his objectives." Revolver 10171SA has been tuned by Jim Martin and is accompanied by a receipt for the work as well as the original mainspring and trigger. Both revolver retain approximately 95% of their original finish showing light muzzle wear, slightly dulled case colors, some small scattered blemishes and turn marks on the cylinders. Action is very smooth on #10171SA with crisp action on 10172SA. bores are pristine and the synthetic grips are fine. Condition in near Excellent in boxes. ***C&R Firearms***
