Colt Single Action Army .45 LC SN: 231622
with a 5 ½” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, and rubber grips, S/N 231622 and made in 1902. Carried and used by Arizona lawman Orlando C. Williams of Holbrook, AZ in Navajo County. This revolver remains in good to very good condition showing 50%-70% original blue and toning case colors. Some wear to grips from being carried along while in a holster. Good markings, tight action and shiny bore. Orlando Williams began his career in the early 1920s serving as deputy U.S. Marshal for N.E. Arizona a position he held for 7 years. He was V.P. of International Peace Officers Association and one of Arizona’s first fingerprint experts. His most famous cases included 2 robbers in Winslow, AZ (Jack Russell and Charles Baker). Charles Baker was known as Arizona’s #1 kingpin of bootlegging. O.C. William’s career was long and interesting and he is buried in Mesa City Cemetery in Arizona. This and several other arms descended in William’s family until, obtained by us from his descendants. This Colt SAA has never before offered on the public auction block. Also Williams was purportedly recruited for a posse to capture John Dillinger in Mexico which was a “No Record Mission” across international borders that was “Questionable” in its legality.
