The colt was found just outside the old town plaza of Mesilla, New Mexico; about 50 yards behind this church. Revolver, Single-action. 6-rd capacity. This is a Colt. 1st generation, SAA in relic condition. Ground dug, the revolver has been cleaned at some point. Metal is "in the white", and pitted. Trigger, and ejector rod lever are broken. Cylinder spins freely Loading gate is loose. Mainspring is missing, so hammer is loose. Grips are missing. Triggerguard dented. No visible markings except the serial # on the frame. Chambers are empty. 4 3/4" barrel.
Colt factory letter is included with the gun. Revolver was originally shipped on September 5, 1885, to J.P. Moores & Sons in NYC. 5 guns in shipment. Listed with 4 3/4 Barrel, nickel finish, and rubber grips.
An interesting piece, that is pretty complete for a ground dug gun.
