Colt New Service revolver, .44-40 caliber, Serial #475. The pistol is in fair overall condition with a 7 ½” barrel. The pistol has seen heavy use with the majority of the metal surfaces going to a mottled grey-brownpatina with light to moderate surface rust and erosion evident. The action functions but is in need of work as the cylinder does not consistently engage. The consignor notes indicate the pistol was manufactured duringthe first week of production for the New Service model. It was shipped on February 1, 1899 to New York City. The bore is fair and may clean, the action is in need of work and the markings are legible. The lot includes a period leather flap holster.
