Supplied for bidding in this lot is a modern, single-sided, porcelain enamel "Bear Wheel Alinement Balance Service" advertising sign. The logo is known as one of the most ubiquitous pieces of American folk art in history, still found at repair shops across the country - And even used by the Grateful Dead in the early 1970's without permission! The character is aptly named "Happy Bear", and grasps a sign reading; "Bear Wheel Alinement Balancing Service". The sign was used by automotive shops to convey their use of tools, and training by Bear Manufacturing. The modern sign shows good condition overall, with scattered scuffs and scratches from storage. The sign measures 25 5/8" tall, and 17 3/4" wide.
