(Disneyland, 1965) An original concept painting by Disney Legend Marc Davis for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Davis' iconic jail scene, featuring imprisoned pirates coaxing a dog for the keys to their cells, is one of the most beloved moments from the attraction. These three scoundrels stand in the cell, further from the dog and closer to the approaching flames. The art is signed by Davis and features handwritten dialogue for the characters, most likely written by X. Atencio, who was tasked with writing the dialogue for Davis' scenes. This art came from the Walt Disney Imagineering Art Library and maintains its original tag on the reverse. This is a rare opportunity to own the original concept art for one of the best-known scenes in Disney Parks history. The image size measures 13" x 15" in a 13.75" x 16.5" visible window. The entire framed and matted piece measures 22" x 25". Accomplished in ink and watercolor, the art is in fine condition, while the frame is in good condition with scratches, scuffs, and wear.
