U.S. Model 1842 Johnson single shot percussion pistol, .54 caliber, Serial #NSNV. The pistol is in good overall condition with an 8 ½” barrel. The barrel has gone to a dark brown patina with areas of pinprickpitting. The martially marked side plate is also a brown patina with, “US I.N. JOHNSON” and light pitting at the rear of the plate. The barrel band, back strap and butt cap are all brass with a pleasing taffy patina andthe ramrod is retained. The smooth wood stocks are in good condition with mars and dents consistent with carry and use on this Gold Rush era martially marked Johnson. Est.: $500-$1,000. (Antique).
