Excellent Colt Model 1877 Lightning revolver in .38 Colt caliber with a 4 ½” barrel, bright blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber grips, early German silver front sight, etched barrel, S/N 37457. This revolver is contained within an original to the period British style oak case with provisions to accept a Colt .41 caliber house pistol with round cylinder! The 1877 shows British proofs and 95% plus original bright blue with full etched panel. Fiery case hardening is stunning and 97%-99% intact. 95%-98% blue on straps. Bright fire blue on small parts and original polish on sides of the hammer. Hard rubber grips are fine. The case is very good plus to fine overall with oil bottle, cleaning brush, rod, cartridge block and cartridges all included. A stunning Lightning and a rare double set that desperately needs the house pistol to be added. Possibly unique as the only example many old time Colt collectors have examined.
