Colt U.S. Cavalry SAA revolver, .45 caliber, 7.5” barrel, blued and case hardened finish, wood grips, S/N 48736; overall very good + condition with considerable military blued finish on barrel, original case colors in protected areas of frame, Henry Nettleton inspected, wood grips displaying a partial outline of inspector’s cartouche on left side of grip, good bore, crisp action, good markings; accompanied by a Kopec letter and copy of the Rampant Colt Dec. 1989 magazine. The letter and article both mention that when first found, the Cavalry Model sported a civilian replacement barrel and return to factory star marked on the right trigger guard bow; the owner called Kopec to see if he might have a Henry Nettleton marked Cavalry barrel and to both men’s surprise, John not only had one, but one that was numbered to the collector’s revolver. Both were re-united. The story is also recounted in the Rampant Colt article. In closing, Kopec states “This revolver appears to be basically correct.
