Colt SAA U.S. Cavalry revolver, .45 caliber, 7.5” barrel, blued and case hardened finish, wood grips, S/N 16755 (cylinder #6693 but also Casey-inspected and may have been a “field-mixed” component as finish matches the rest of this gun), A. P. Casey-inspected; accompanied by a Kopec letter that states among other important details and information that “This revolver’s serial number falls within a rather significant group of these revolvers which were issued to the newly reorganized 7th Cavalry troops just after the famous ‘Custer Battle’”; also “These issues were made to those recruits who were assembled at Bismarck, Dakota Territory prior to being deployed. The citizens of Bismarck nicknamed those troopers who had been specifically assigned to the 7th Cavalry as the ‘Custer Avengers’”. Very good condition overall with a pleasing plum brown patina and traces of blue and case colors in protected areas, crisp action, good markings and good grips; bore is overall very good. (Antique). Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
