U.S. Colt Artillery Model SAA revolver, .45 caliber, 5.5” barrel, blued and case hardened finish, wood grips, S/N 95377 (frame); 84276 (trigger guard); 116504 (backstrap); 1_0475 (cylinder); 4553 (barrel); overall very good to near fine condition displaying majority of original blued finish to barrel assembly, straps and cylinder; traces of original case colors on frame with balance gone to silvery tone; crisp action, sharp markings, near fine bore and very good grips displaying 1901 date plus inspector’s cartouches (R.A.C. on right side of grip and O.C.H. on left side of grip). Accompanied by a Colt factory letter dated Sept. 7, 2004 indicating frame numbered gun sold to the U.S. Government and delivered to the Government Inspector at the Colt plant on July 20, 1883, in a lot of 150 guns; letter also notes the revolver was returned to the factory for refurbishing and subsequently reshipped to the Springfield Armory in Springfield, Mass. on December 21, 1901.
