1930s-40s WW2 Era Leather Aviator Caps
Offered in this lot are two 1930s-40s WW2 Era Leather Aviator Caps. The first is an aviator cap made of two-toned brown leather with a tan flannel lining with fur around the neckline and a curve of fur at the front and that can flip down or up. Perforated leather pads cover the ear area on the outside, three snaps are adjustable for comfort. This has three seams over the top of the head for a nice, snug, smooth fit. There is a leather chin strap and buckle. Leather is soft and supple, no cracks noted. Due to the lack of wool lining, this cap would most likely not been used by a bomber crewman. The second cap is black with a cream coloured lamb's wool lining. Small straps are affixed to each side of the head, presumably to secure goggles or communications equipment. Leather is soft and supple, torn at the center seam at the forehead. Leather chip strap and buckle are worn, buckle has heavy patina. Note, some motorcycle enthusiasts wear these types of vintage caps when they ride their bikes.
