Western Pennsylvania style Kentucky rifle, .50 caliber, 42” octagon barrel marked “H D”, “J & W Aston” marked engraved lockplate, double set triggers (working at time of description), beautifultiger striped wood stock with brass mounts/patchbox and extensive pierced silver inlays including an American eagle on left side of butt stock along with bone and horn inlays plus carving at the rear of the leftside of butt stock. The condition of this fine piece of early American firearm artistry is very good to fine with an undisturbed rich patina to metal and wood surfaces; the architecture of the stock from the actionback is classic; there is an old repair to a sliver of wood in front of the lock plate.
