Building on the forms explored in the New Horizons piece "Cubism", this piece has elements that aren't geometric and contains more elements. The overall intent is to create a more seemingly precarious structure. The inside corners are highlighted with the use of paint for emphasis.

About the Artist:
Mark Sfirri began incorporating turned elements into furniture and objects in the 1970s while a student at the Rhode Island School of Design. His specialty is multi-axis turning, a technique that he first dabbled with in the mid-1970s. Sfirri has run the Fine Woodworking Program at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pennsylvania since 1981. He received the Distinguished Educator Award from the Renwick Alliance of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institutions and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Collectors of Wood Art. His work is included in twenty-seven public collections and he has demonstrated his techniques throughout North America, Europe, and Australia.
