U.S. Trapdoor Springfield Model 1884 military rifle, .45-70 cal., 32-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, full wood stock, sling swivels, iron cleaning rod, #418680. This gun is in excellent condition showing approx. 97% original blue finish to barrel, receiver, lock plate and butt plate with traces of case color to “trapdoor” with balance gone to a brown and grey patina; minty bore, crisp action, sharp markingsincluding the American eagle and “U.S. Springfield” on the lock plate; excellent wood stock with sharp circle P behind the trigger guard and equally sharp inspector cartouche on the left side of the wrist above the trigger “SWP 1888”; just a couple scattered slight mars from storage. An outstanding example of this late Indian Wars era Springfield. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
