"I made "This is Me" as a metaphor for my growth as a wood artist. I began in 1990 as a traditional Romanian wood carver and steadily developed a reputation for my neo-traditional work. Since 2014 my work has become more sculptural, and this piece reflects the changes to my creative life and the influences that have shaped my work. The spoon is me and the trail of chips is both a link to my past and a departure. I am not fleeing, I am embracing a new future."
