The lot features a Stevens Model No. 40 Pocket Rifle Pistol chambered in a .25 Stevens Rimfire caliber. The pistol features a 10-inch round barrel with octagon shank having a brass blade front sight and brass “V” notch rear sight along with a two-piece original walnut grip set. The grip’s butt end has filler in the slot for a stock attachment. These original Stevens No. 40 Pocket Rifle firearms are very scarce and typically fetch a large amount at auction with examples selling well over $2,000.00 in many cases. These typically would have been accompanied with a nickel-plated metal shoulder stock (like that of an early bicycle rifle stock) and occasionally could be found with a custom full-size wood stock with this example showing neither. The firearm shows much of the original nickel-plated finish with nearly 40% remaining along with a nice faded gray dark patina original finish barrel. These early Model No. 40 Pocket Rifles were manufactured from circa 1896-1916. Serial number 12854. Curio & Relic Firearms requires either C&R, FFL Transfer, or NICS Background check.
