This is an exceptional collection of Sells Floto Circus, Al G. Barnes and Sells Floto Circus and Buffalo Bills Wild West show original photographs from the early 1900’s. The collection is displayed in a large semi-hard bound Photographs album with approximately 300 to 400 photographs represented. Photographs include images of performances and behind the scenes acts showing baby Tigers, Sells Floto Buffalo Bills Wild West group photos, photographs of Native American Indians, a photograph of Frank Dean famed cowboy riding a saddled Hippopotamus, a Hippo bulling a cart, exotic animals, Elephants, a photograph of Elephants performing in Troy, Montana, rodeo trick riding, high wire trapeze acts, and so much more. The collection includes a timeline of the career of Frank Dean and Bernice Dean and is from their personal collection. Frank and Bernice Dean were famous Wild West performers in the early to mid 1900’s. The collection includes various photographs with many being marked from the Sells Floto Circus, Sells Floto Circus and Buffalo Wild West, AL. G. Barnes Circus, Barnes Circus, various rodeo’s and western shows of the such. Bernice Dean was one of the most versatile Wild West and rodeo performers and has been inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. Frank Dean performed his "Western Arts" acts, (trick and fancy roping, whips, knife throwing and western trick riding), on various circuses, wild west shows, rodeos and appeared on the television program "You Asked for It". Frank also was the author of many books on the subject of western arts. Frank performed his acts abroad many times. while performing in Japan he met another performer, Bernice Hoppe, they were married April 26, 1935 while still in Japan. Frank was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records, as cracking the world’s longest whip (80 foot) at the State Fair of North Dakota in 1939. Bernice Dean’s act included singing and dancing, trick riding, trick shooting, knife throwing, tricks with Mexican maguey ropes and bull whips, juggling, and a balancing trick on the rolling globe. She and her husband worked as an exhibition team for 45 years in every state and thirteen countries. Billed in Wild West shows, rodeos, circuses, motion pictures and television, Bernice earned worldwide acclaim. This is truly a wonderful and rich historic Wild West and Rodeo album and would be a truly rare addition to any collection. The book comes from the personal collection of Dot Vernon Bolton, a personal friend of both Frank and Bernice Dean. Dot Vernon performed with the Miller’s 101 Ranch Wild West Show, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, Pawnee Bill’s Wild West Show and more. The album measures 7.5”x11” and 3” thick. These are all original candid photographs from the personal camera and collection of Frank and Bernice Dean. Indivudial Sells Floto Circus photographs can fetch as much as over $1,000 at auction with this lot representing over 300 to 400 photographs which are mostly of circus life.
