Second model Allin Conversion of Civil War musket to .50-70 caliber, in good to very good original condition. The metal surfaces show an arsenal bright type finish with some traces of case hardening on lock and hammer.There is some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting, some slightly heavier pitting on the buttstock. The good and would have been very good except for a couple of losses along the ramrod channel.There are three cartouches visible on left side of stock including Allin’s cartouche ESA. The markings are good, action crisp, bore bright, near excellent with correct style cleaning rod. These .50-70’s were usedin the early Indian War period. Dr. Sterling Fenn collection.
