*Scoped DWM Artillery Luger 9mm SN: 7116
Interesting WWI era German military semi-automatic service pistol chambered in 9mm Parabellum, dated 1918. Features a blued finish, 8" barrel, shortened fine-tune inverted 'V' front sight, "dow" code(Opticotechna) ZF 41/1 1.5x scope utilizing a barrel band & the rear sight dovetail for mounting, push button magazine release, 8 round blued steel magazine with wood base(not numbered), crescent trigger, manual safety, steel frame with lanyard loop & provisions for a shoulder stock and two-piece finely checkered walnut grips. All serial numbers match with the exception of the magazine & scope. The pistol bears all the correct military proofs for it's time of production and also shows a "MA" monogram over a circled swastika proof on both of the scope mounts & on the receiver. According to Charles Keyton Jr.'s book "Lugers At Random" the "MA" monogram proof is the Mauser Arbeiten proof or "Mauser Reworked" proof that has been noted on a very few 1930-1933 reworks. The circled swastika could well be an indication that this firearm was purchased by a German officer during World War II. Includes a board stock with unmarked metal and an attached period black leather double magazine pouch. Pistol retains approximately 80% of it's original finish showing holster wear and some finish thinning to patina. Action is crisp, the bore is excellent, optics are fair and the wood grips are very good with minor blemishes & some worn points. Condition is NRA Very Good++. ***C&R Firearm***
