Scarce Porter's Patent Third Model Revolving Turret Rifle
This scarce Third Model Porter Turret Rifle is quickly recognized by the absence of a magazine, the visible percussion nipples and side mounted hammer. When the lever is lowered, the hammer cocks and when pulled back up, the nine shot turret advances. The rifle correctly does not have provisions for a loading lever or a turret cover. The only visible marking is the serial number on the bottom barrel flat at the breech. The matching number is also marked on the turret, right side of the frame and inside of the hinged portion of the receiver. Blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights (both off-set to the left). Mounted with a varnished straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
BBL: 28 inch octagon
Stock: walnut
