Rare factory nickel plated Model 1873 Winchester lever action rifle in .22 short cal., #200200B with factory letter confirming caliber, features and shipping date. The rifle shows a 24” octagon barrel, fullmagazine, crescent butt, approx. 80-90%original nickel remains with some minor drifting, normal aging and darkening where nickel is lost; minor pin prick pitting; some nicks and very small losses from peeling;good sharp markings including lifter, good edges; wood shows light over varnish which is slightly reddish but no sanding with great wood to metal fit; traces of original dulling blue on sights and case hardening on hammer; magazine original, bore fair with ring of erosion about half way down barrel; full nickel rifles are rare but in .22 caliber about unknown. This is the only full nickel .22 we have seen offered in a decade. JamesFowler, legendary Winchester collector believed he had the only one known in the seventies but a few have shown up in the ages of information; knowledgeable collectors speculate about a dozen or less exist.
