Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Carbine in 35 Whelen

Manufactured in 1946 (receiver) during the early transition period (late 1945 to 1951). It is chambered in 35 Whelen, a reportedly non-standard caliber believed to be experimental or special order chambering that has not been confirmed. Hooded ramp front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight (missing elevator) on a barrel marked with the Winchester legend on the left side. The Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver. The receiver is tapped for scope mounting at the front and tapped for sight mounting on the left rear side. Cloverleaf receiver tang, pre-war safety, polished bolt numbered to gun and sling swivels. The straight comb pistol grip stock features checkering and a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The carbine retains nearly all of the blue finish showing the slightest handling marks. The stock is very good with a few barely noticeable handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
