The lot features two authentic Crow and Sioux Native American Indian skull cracker war club heads. The artifacts were recovered at the Platte River site of a documented battle between the Crow and Sioux tribes in the 19th century. Both artifacts show a solid stone construction with the proper drill and ground marks indicative of their 19th century age. Each has a deep full notch along the center. The larger of the two has a more pointed construction and would have been more potent. The small war club head shows a more rounded styling, but was equally as potent when wielded properly. Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned collector and foremost expert on war clubs and tomahawks, Mark Francis. The Francis collection piece has been authenticated and verified. The larger piece measures 1 7/8" in diameter and is 6.25" long. The smaller one measures 1.75" in diameter and is 4.25" long.
