This lot offers you a Bill Letchworth original air brush on canvas painting. Bill Letchworth is a University of Minnesota - Mankato graduate, who studied under Chuck Close. The piece shows the signature styling of Close, utilizing realism, and abstract design. The subject of the painting is a lounging nude woman, based on a predominantly black background, with a thick red band set behind. The portrait shows abstract design, with rolls of clouds, replacing the woman's bent leg. Chuck Close, a renowned New York, New York artist who has expanded his contribution to portraiture through the mastery of such varied drawing and painting techniques as ink, graphite, pastel, watercolor, conté crayon, finger painting, and stamp-pad ink on paper; printmaking techniques, such as Mezzotint, etching, woodcuts, linocuts, and silkscreens; as well as handmade paper collage, Polaroid photographs, Daguerreotypes, and Jacquard tapestries. The painting was completed in 1974, and is titled "Paper Dolls No. 13". The piece is additionally signed by Letchworth on the side and back of the canvas.
