Japanese Arisaka bolt-action Type 38 carbine, 6.5mm cal., 19” barrel, military finish, wood stock, sling swivels, #30235. This is a very interesting carbine that may have been a “GI bring back” as the mum and Japanesecharacters on the top of the receiver have not been ground off; their remains considerable military finish on metal surfaces , the bore is fair to good, the action crisp and markings clear; the buttstock shows three primary areas of old damage that appear to be from bullet strikes; one is on the right side of the butt stock, another larger old strike is on the left side and the rear top portion of the butt stockhas been shot away with the butt plate loose and secured only by the bottom screw.
