This is an example of a 1943 dated WWII K98 rifle that was manufactured in Suhl by J.P. Sauer & Sons. The top of the receiver ring is marked with a Nazi firing proof over "ce / 43", the right side is marked with an "eagle/280" proof and the left side is marked with the Nazi firing proof and the serial number. The left side receiver wall is marked "Mod.98". The left side rear of the barrel is marked with the Nazi firing proof and around the breech end is marked "ah" followed by two "eagle/37" proofs. Hooded ramp blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. All visible numbers match. Correct early all milled parts and mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with cupped buttplate and marked with an eagle proof over "H" on the right side. Complete with a "43crs" code bayonet with serrated Bakelite handle and metal scabbard. The scabbard and bayonet are matching. The cleaning rod is absent.
BBL: 24 inch round
Gauge: 8 mm Mauser
Serial Number: 6286k
Condition: Fine. The rifle retains 50% blue finish with scattered areas of smooth brown and gray patina. The stock is also fine with a small chip behind the sling slot and overall a few minor dings and dents. The scabbard and bayonet are both very good. The markings are clear, (some highlighted in white). The action is excellent.
