Interesting Frontier-type butcher knife set in leather covered wood block with remnants of a leather strap and iron buckle, approx. 14” in height with 7 knives and a wood handled sharpening rod; the holder is approx. 4” in diameter; the knives are of varying degrees of wear, some showing extensive sharpening; all are old and there are a variety of wood handles ranging from three to six pin-styles (generally, the more pinssecuring the wood handles, the earlier the knife). The leather cover on the block shows age, wear and some cracking but mostly present; there is a leather border around the top of the block and it is decorated withbrass tacks. A great display piece to go with a Western buffalo gun or wooly hide. Est.: $600-$1,200.
