Available for purchase is this wonderful Great Lakes Region Native American Indian circa 1800-1810 pewter pipe tomahawk with exceptional pewter inlays in the haft. This tomahawk is from the extraordinary and large collection of tomahawks and war clubs by noted and respected collector, Jim Dresslar. The piece has been attributed to the Shawnee Indians in Northern Indians, but could possibly be from the Chippewa tribe. The head is made of poured pewter and measures 6 ¼ inches in length by 2 ¾ inches in width across the bottom of the blade. The head exhibits exceptional filed rings on the top and bottom of the smoking bow, filed molding and chevrons. The hardwood haft features artful pewter inlays at the top near the inner eyehole and at the smoking tip, which was then square-filled. The haft has a nice shiny patina and the entire tomahawk exhibits artful craftsmanship. The piece was sold by Jim Dresslar to noted collector Jim Ritchie in the mid 2000’s and then later sold to Mark Francis. The piece measures 16.25” in total length.
