This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth downhill skier bronze sculpture titled "Skier". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture is a depiction of a pleasure skier displaying wonderful action. The piece shows incredibly fine detail and artistic ability. The bronze rests on a solid walnut hardwood base with a placard that reads "Skier G.C. Wentworth". The bronze bears the signature of the artist. It is dated "1982" and is numbered 4/20. The sculpture is in very good condition. It measures 6" x 14.5" and is 14" tall. This piece originally sold in the 1980's for $2500 retail. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a printed biography of the artist.
