This lot includes a presentation Kukri knife. These blades have been carried by the Napalese Gurkha as both a very formidable weapon, as well as a decorative uniform piece, since as early as 1559. This kukri in particular has an ornate engraved blade, showing a dragon on each side of the blade. Additionally, the blade shows typical construction, with a thick tapered spine, and notch near the tang, for blood drainage. The grip of the knife also shows typical design, crafted of horn, and including a palm-swell, and a flared butt, with a thin brass pommel. The scabbard is also crafted of dark horn, and is held together by brass. The knife shows good condition overall. The knife - when inserted into the scabbard, measures 12 1/8" long, 1 3/4" wide, and 7/8" thick.
