Engraved Flintlock Pistol Marked Lvca Zvgno with Carved Stock
This is an example of an 18th Century flintlock Italian Pistol of fine quality of research. Produced without sights, with punch-dot backed scroll engraving near the rear surrounding a faint bust. Further scroll and punch engraving on the lock plate, frizzen and hammer, with "LVCA ZVGNO" along the bottom of the lock. Research places Luca Zugno as a gunsmith operating out of Brescia in the 1700s. Reverse plate shows scroll and punch engraving, with pierced-through scrollwork and a bust in the center. Full length stock, with carved scroll patterns, engraved furniture, and scroll, punch and bust patterns on the trigger guard, wrist plate and buttcap.

There also is an extraordinary pair of pistols by this same maker in this auction.
