Early Colt U.S. martial Navy-Navy Model 1851 percussion revolver originally in the Swayze collection and pictured in his book on ’51 Navies, page 86, .36 cal., 7-1/2” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, woodgrips with “1 J.R.M.M.” inspection marks on bottom of right grip, iron backstrap with “U.S.N.” stamped on bottom of butt strap, #61308. This gun is in overall very good to fine condition showing traces of blue inprotected areas of barrel with scattered original case colors on the rammer and frame; majority of original cylinder scene remaining, crisp action, overall good bore and grips that show wear with some nicks from storage, an old loss to the front toe of the left side grip which also shows old diagonal mars. A hard-to-find martial revolver in better-than-normally-found condition. Est.: $7,000-$14,000.
