Early American buck and ball gun signed J. Bear on barrel, circa approx. 1814-1834. The gun measures approx. 63-1/2” overall with 48” octagon to round medium weight barrel showing iron v-notch rear sight and bladefront sight. The gun is stocked in nicely striped walnut with brass mounts, engraved in floral or daisy motif. The gun has been reconverted from percussion back to flint and shows a T. Ketland marking on lock. Themetal surfaces have been recolored on barrel, the lock cleaned to bright. The stock is good plus with some opening around the pin holes and an old copper repair to the toe which has aged nicely. The wrist showscharacteristic wide-spaced naïve checkering. The gun has an attractive look. The Est: $900 - $1,800
