Custom Cased Matched and Consecutively Serial Numbered Pair of Gold Gilted Brass European Percussion
The barrel and frame are one piece brass with a left side and top plate and gold gilded. The barrel has a cannon muzzle and a rib 1 inch behind the muzzle. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the oval Liege proofmark and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. The hammer is bright and the trigger guard was finished blue. Fitted with smooth one piece bag shaped grip. Complete in a wooden case marked "BOSTON" on the lid, with black velvet lining, wooden ramrod, powder flask, a brass container with round lead bullets and a hard rubber cap holder with screw on lid. There is a short handwritten note from the consignor stating that these Belgium pistols, serial numbered 6116 and 6117 in Boston box were purchased at the Edward G. Robinson estate auction in Sarasota, Florida in 1972. Edward G. Robinson was in movies from 1916 to 1973 playing a variety of characters, but was best known for his roles as a tough guy gangster. Robinson died at age 79 in Los Angeles, California in January, 1973 of cancer.

Condition: Fine. Most of the gold gilt remains with some flaking on the barrel and discoloration on the front strap. The trigger guard shows traces of the original blue finish with the balance having a smooth silver gray patina. The percussion nipple appears original to the pistol and is bent from years of use. The grip is also excellent with 99% original finish and a few scattered minor dings and dents. The action is excellent. The case is good with a crack in the lid and some minor contact wear to the lining. The accessories are all good.

Condition: Fine. The pistol retains most of the gold gilt finish with some flaking on the barrel. The trigger guard has a smooth mottled silver gray patina. The grip is also excellent with 98% finish and a few minor dings and dents. The percussion nipple appears original to the pistol and is bent from years of use. The action is excellent.
