Colt conversion of pocket navy, .38 caliber rimfire, with rare original 3” octagon barrel, traces of blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, showing 1871/72 patent dates. Recoil shield added to back of frame. Serial #20547. The barrel shows plugged rammer area and properly crowned muzzle. No loading gate. Refer Variations of Colt New Police and Pocket Breech Loading Pistols by Breslin, Pirie, and Price, page 70 and 71 where it confirms the 3” barrel is found in the range 19,900 to 21,200 with this configuration. The revolver remains in good to very good condition. Traces of original blue and case hardening drifting mostly to a grey patina, scattered light erosion, pinprick pitting, some dings and mars, and areas of slightly heavier pitting at the muzzle and on the cylinder. Cylinder shows 30-50% scene. The edges are good, markings are good. The grips are good, with one large chip at front toe and some normal wear. Matching serial numbers. The cylinder shows the number “4611”, which was the percussion number and “0547”, the conversion number stamped beneath which is proper. Refer Flayderman 5B-127. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
