Antique single action six-shot revolver chambered for the .45 Colt black powder cartridge, manufactured circa 1881. Features a blued finish, 4 3/4" barrel with two line address, blade front sight, v-notched rear sight, ejector rod, fluted cylinder, three line patent markings on the frame, ".45 CAL" marking on trigger guard, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, and one piece smooth walnut grip. Serial numbers match on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Includes a Colt factory letter stating the revolver was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri on February 22. 1881 in a 50 gun shipment. The barrel & stock configurations are not listed but in the remark portion of the letter it states that a 7 1/2" barrel and walnut stocks where standard for the time. Revolver exhibits an aged brown patina with a small amount of bluing retained on the protected areas of the ejector rod housing. Notches have been observed in between the flutes on the cylinder and in the metal on the butt. Action is smooth with four clicks and mostly good lock-up, the bore is very good with some minor pitting, the markings are mostly visible and the wood grip is good with wear.
