Colt 1851 Navy (conversion) to .38 centerfire, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, US Navy marked, serial #62125. Refer Flayderman 5B-125. The pistol remains in good to very good original condition with approx. 20-40% original blue on barrel drifting and toning to patina with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The barrel address is good, the edges fairly sharp. The ejector rod housing has gone to patina with some moderate pitting on the edge. The cylinder shows 20% plus original cylinder scene going light, scattered light to moderate pinprick pitting and some staining. The frame show 20-40% case hardening drifting at the edges and some areas of rainbow colors where protected. The frame shows 1871/72 patent dates and Colt’s patent with US marking forward of frame. The iron backstrap and triggerguard show traces of original blue and butt is stamped with large U star S star and partial N. The wood grips are good with even wear and small losses at the edges, just normal aging and use. All matching serial numbers except cylinder which is number 273 and probably replaced at time of conversion. The ejector rod head is also an ingenious period made replacement from a
