Caucasian Flintlock Pistol with Silver Accented Stock
Of unknown origin, possibly Russian or Caucasian. Barrel produced with a sighing rib, with a small gold filled "M" proof on the rib and a set of three cruciform stamps, two of which are also gold filled. The thick, raised lock plate is free of makers marks, with engraved decoration on the hammer screw, a curled design on the frizzen tip and a feather at the end of the frizzen spring. Smooth full length straight wrist stock, with a simulated ramrod with brass pipes, scalloped carved borders around the barrel, lock and side plate, raised carvings on the underside and on the wrist, brass trigger guard and reverse plate, with floral designs on the trigger guard and raised scrollwork on the reverse, a silver decorative plate on the wrist with a floral pattern silver square in the center, surrounded by beadwork with a pair of silver fitted unidentified, possible precious stones and a silver wire twist around the border, and a brass buttcap with raised floral designs, an elevated base and a silver cylinder on top with raised floral decoration.

Condition: Very good. The barrel shows a mixed gray patina, with a small amount of pitting, light dings on the muzzle and a tiny crack at the tang screw. The lock and components show a similar appearance. Stock is also very good, with some absent chips, light scratches and a small amount of finish loss, concentrated around the high edges. Mechanically functions but the hammer spring is stiff. The silver components show a fine aged patina, with light handling marks.
