Contained in this lot is a 1st edition, Smithsonian Institution, Bureau of American Ethnology Bulletin 61; Teton Sioux Music book. The Bureau of American Ethnology was established by Congress in 1879, in order to transfer archived records, and materials relating to the Indians of North America from the interior department, to the Smithsonian Institution. This book in particular shows the sheet music of the Teton Sioux, and goes through the meaning of the songs. The book which was printed in 1918 shows good condition, with some slight moisture damage to the pages. The book measures 9 1/4" x 6 1/8" x 1 5/8".
