'Fully Transferable' British military Model 1914 air-cooled open bolt light machine gun chambered in .303 British. Registered on an ATF Form 1 in 1985 utilizing an original non-reweld BSA receiver. The Lewis gun was developed by U.S. Army Colonel Isaac Newton Lewis and uses a unique heat sink & induced air cooling system. Features a blued finish, 26.5" barrel with aluminum radiator & metal jacket, shrouded blade front sight, flip-up ladder style rear aperture sight graduated to 1,900 meters, 47 round pan magazine, two-position adjustable gas system, convertible left or right side charging handle with sliding dust covers on both sides of the receiver, clock spring recoil system, wood carry handle, folding adjustable bipod, smooth trigger, tan canvas sling, smooth wood pistol grip and shoulder stock with oiler & metal buttplate. Includes Lewis Gun literature, magazine pouch, three magazines in varying degrees of age, loading tool and an anti-aircraft sight. The "A18" portion of the serial number is found on the barrel extension, and in two places on the top of the receiver. The receiver is also marked "Manufactured by/The Birmingham Small Arms Co. Ltd./ENGLAND/for", "Armes Automatiques Lewis/BELGIUM" & "Lewis Auto Gun/Mod 1914 - Pat". Machine gun exhibits a strong reblued finish on the receiver showing light edge wear on the receiver and operational wear under the magazine. The barrel jacket displays a black painted finish of which approximately 70% is retained with scattered wear and flaking. Action is sound, the bore is excellent, markings are clear and the wood stocks are fair showing a couple repair to the shoulder stock.
