This is an original saddle skirt from the A.W. Miles Company Coal & Lumber in Livingston, Montana from the late 1800's. Arthur Welligton Miles came to Montana in 1880 and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Keogh. By the mid 1890's, he operated several successful businesses in Montana including the A.W. Miles Company Coal & Lumber. The company provided supplies for Yellowstone National Park. This is a wonderfully historic piece of Livingston and Yellowstone history. The saddle skirt is in good overall condition. It shows large brass tacks and lettering that reads "Coal & Lumber A.W. Miles Co.". Some of the original tacks and a letter "E" are missing. The skirt measures 16.5" x 23".
