This is the earliest known 1965 Dart Charger 273 in excellent condition. Only a few exist of 180 Dart Charger 273's built at the L.A. factory. Only a handful have been restored. This car is on the cover of Collectible Automobile Magazine, April 2016 issue. Other recent stories of these little-known but increasingly popular cars can be found in and on the covers of the November, 2015 Mopar Collector's Magazine and in the January, 2015 Mopar Action magazine.. Also, Google "Dart Charger 273 YouTube Interview with Ulf Andersson" for further history). This car won 1st Place 1960-66 A Body (in its first entry) at Mopar Spring Fling 2015 in Van Nuys, California. Restoration included original color paint, original color interior, engine, transmission, steering and front end, and updated wheels with original Dart Charger hubs and badges. Work was completed in 1997. The four barrel engine was originally rated at 235 HP, and cars with Doug Thorley headers were rated at 275 in the day. This car has been garage kept and driven sparingly since restoration. Engine breathes through Doug Thorely headers and an Offenhauser intake by an updated electric-choke Carter carb (original manifolds, original Carter carb and original dual point distributor are included in sale). Car has a 904 transmission shifted on floor, power steering and power brakes. A Competition Cam and solid lifters replaced originals and a windage tray was included in rebuild. Original AM pushbutton radio works, and an underdash stereo was added. Vinyl top shows some wear but may be original. Receipts for restoration included with sale. Collectable Automobile Magazine valued Dart Charger 273's up to $45,000.
