Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 Colt caliber with a 7 ½” barrel in prime Custer range, S/N 4729. This subject Colt was obtained by iconic Custer arms collector Dr. Kenneth Leonard from old time Dakotacollector and writer Jake Herman. Jake Herman compiled pamphlet “Ogala Sioux Sun Dance” in 1965 and was considered a foremost authority on the events surrounding the Custer battle and the Pine Ridge Agency home of Red Cloudand Crazy Horse. Herman stated “Captured at The Little Big Horn and that it remained in family since that time”. The best documented Custer battle single action we know to be sold since we sold Dr. Sterling Fenn’s in2011 for $90,000 plus buyer’s premium $103,500. See Kopec letter and letter signed by Dr. Kenneth Leonard on internet. (Antique) Est.: $35,000-$70,000
